PinkNews

Nov 2017 - Dec 2017

News flash: I was an editorial intern during the later months of Pink News; one of the largest UK-based online newspapers marketed to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

I was directly involved in story-generation and shaping the digital editorial direction of the publication. This ranged from collating news clippings and pitching news article ideas, pitching original features and interviews, collecting quotes, and transcribing interviews for staff writers.

My piece on the backlash a transgender weightlifter received for qualifying for the Commonwealth games was the 3rd most-read stories of the day. The piece on Ben Cohen dropping by an amateur rugby game was a featured piece on-the-day.

Sunny Art Centre

May 2017 - Jun 2017

Soon after leaving a university seminar for the final time, I bagged an internship with the Sunny Art Centre. An exhibition and workshop space based just near Chancery Lane, I assisted with admin, marketing, and PR activities.

HISKIND

Jan 2017 - Nov 2017

After shooting for the magazine's winter-internship, I failed to score it. However, instead of a temporary stint with the androphilic, homoculture journal, they wanted me to be an editorial intern. I freelanced for HISKIND, writing articles about, and in relation to, queer art, culture, and fashion.

I mainly worked in connecting with members of the queer performance scene in London, interviewing them (irl, phone, and email) as part of the 'In Conversation With' category. I've spoken to trans activist Monroe Bergdorf, host of Making Gay History Eric Marcus, international drag powerhouse Jonny Woo, vogue dancer Darren Suarez, and queer artist Nando Messias.

I also assisted the Marketing & Partnerships Director, alongside the CEO, in recruiting new writers and collating lists for possible brand partnerships for activations.

Blasting News

Nov 2016

Following the fall of Mode Media Corp, I was swiftly picked-up by the social journalism hub that is Blasting news. A site of buzz-type content, I wrote a self-initiated, 500-word article focalising on the global-political landscape and the precarity of the queer subject in it.

Untitled

Aug 2016 - Oct 2016

Picked up by the company's Director on Instagram, I quickly became bolted onto the Untitled team as the Community Manager of their private Facebook community page. The direction of Untitled is the curation of crowdsourced guides on art, centring on the cool, conceptual art movement. Contemporary art, a space full of urinals and 50ft aluminium balloons, is hard to get to be honest.

To help amplify the group's values, I managed a Facebook community that provided the insights to the digital guides. I crafted content relevant to the members' interests, alongside keeping them engaged with the project at hand. In addition to typing out text for the main website and shooting emails to members of the art world to forge relationships for future guides, projects, and collaborations. I also scouted for new members across Instagram and other social media hubs. Liaising across email to recruit them for the Untitled project.

Unseen Online

Dec 2015 - July 2016

I first encountered Unseen Online at their press launch back in early December 2015, and was then bolted onto their team as part of the Avant-Premiere network as an out-of-office intern.

First being set with manning their social media profiles (Twitter and Instagram) during the Holiday period, I then wrote on the pulse 700+ word articles based on the contemporary arts and fashion scene of London, focusing on Soho and other urban hubs that blend into their "Unseen, unheard, unspoken" ethos.

The Idle Man

Nov 2015 - July 2016

I was picked up by the online retailer 'The Idle Man' to be one of their freelance contributors for the features side of their blog. Writing 2 articles every 2 weeks of 1,000-2,000+ word guides, based on menswear trends, guides, edits, and commentaries. Alongside aiding in the transcribing, sub-editing, and writing of introductions to the 'Best of the Web' interview series.

Men's Official

Helen Anthony

May 2015 - present

From the Summer of 2015 onwards, I assisted the luxury menswear designer Helen Anthony by becoming his Press Officer. Alongside advising the tailor on media concerns and running the brands' press email, I maintained their Twitter profile, @HelenAnthonys.

I have tagged along with the Anthony team over many events. Assisting in securing press coverage in Vogue Italia, including being interviewed by late editor-in-chief, Franco Sozzani, has been my personal highlight.

My bulletin board of other times can include dressing the (v cute) male models for Milan Fashion Week AW16/17, greeting guests for his AW.17.18 show, and giving a speech @ the WYLD Fashion Society party back in December 2015, explaining the brands upcoming Milan stint and an overview of the history of the brand.

Mode Media

Apr 2015 - Sep 2016

After the editor-in-chief of Male Extravaganza decided to shut down the site, he showed my work to the team over @ Mode Media Corp. After successfully smashing the screening process, I was hired as one of their content creators.

I was involved in the Brash programme of the U.S and U.K branches of Mode, which entailed me proposing and then writing 3 bi-weekly articles (2 for Mode U.K) concerning a wide range of topics including men's fashion, grooming, lifestyle, humour and automobiles. Occasionally dipping into the site's other streams, including: Foodie, Tend, and Glam.

The site has since closed down. Sad reacts.

I was asked by the North American site Admitoia to write a short advice piece discussing my experiences as a university/college student.

I covered the Spring/Summer 2015 edition of London Fashion Weekend on behalf of the womenswear fashion, lifestyle and beauty website Estilo Tendencies, where I also live tweeted abo0ut the happening going on during the event.

Roar!

Oct 2014

During my first year in university, I wrote a piece for the King's College London University newspaper, Roar! A field guide for cheap coffee haunts dotted around London, visiting and documenting each café by snapping a photo or two.

Mr Manuscript

Jun 2014 - Aug 2014

During the summer of 2014, I was asked to write a series of articles on luxury and high street menswear.

Institchu

Jan 2014 - July 2014

I was asked to act as a guest blogger for the men's bespoke tailoring company InStitchu, where I wrote articles focusing on modern menswear design and tailoring.

Male Extravaganza

Nov 2013 -Jul 2015

After blogging for over e year, I was selected to write 500+ word articles on Wordpress for the Style page of the website, Male Extravaganza. Writing articles concerning men's fashion news and events, current trends, brand focus, and style icons.

My first article, focusing on the style of the male supermodel David Gandy, was read and personally posted to his official Twitter and Facebook page by David Gandy and his assistant. The post received 779 views on the first day.

From the period of January to June 2014, I was tasked my Mihai Herman, the website's founder, to coordinate and reboot their social media presence via their Twitter channel. During the 6 months period, their following increased by over 800 unique users.

Shortlist Media

Oct 2013 - Nov 2013

As part of my internship, I wrote numerous 70 word blurb articles on up and coming events around the UK for the 'To-Do List' section; a main feature of the magazine. I also wrote a 80 word book review and a 90 word competition article for the website.
